- Penrhy’s village was developed in 1966 and was
officially opened in 1968 as a housing project for the area
- In the 1970’s and 80’s Penrhy’s saw many negative
aspects to the community increase
- Third generation unemployment
- High turn over of tenancies
- The effects of negative media
- Alcohol/drug problems
- Debt
- Health problems
- Teenage pregnancies
- Low educational achievements
Many communities suffer with
these problems and the residents of Penrhy's are acitively
working to develop an improved community. They are building on
the strength of their people, the beauty of their land and the rich
history of the area with the support of the religious
