Newsletter 2 September 9, 2004 Hello, As I sit and look out at the Rhondda Valley this lovely afternoon I am reminded that it is through God and in Him that all of this beauty was accomplished. Being in Penrhy's South Wales has opened my eyes to a glimpse into more of His vast kingdom. This community has fellowship and community that many of us long for and try to create. Even though the communities economical situation is less than what they would hope for they find the positive in life that to some of us is difficult each day to do. It makes me appreciate the little things in life while i sit and talk with people here in Penrhy's. And the thing that amazed me the most is that they are such a giving community even though there is little to give. It makes me remember the passage in Mark 12:41-44 that says, "Jesus
sat down opposite the place where the
offering was put and watched the crowd putting their money into the
temple treasury. Many rich people gave in large amounts.
But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth
only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus
said, I tell you the truth; this poor widow has put more into the
treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth,
but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live
on."
And even though only six faithful people attend church every Sunday morning not including the volunteers. It is their passion and heart for God that keeps this community alive. I can't wait to see what God will do in the future as his kingdom expands. Great things are happening here. So it gives me great joy to serve in this community where I have already been given so much more than I have ever imagined, an opportunity to learn more about who God is and how He works in each and every one of us. I will leave you with a verse from a hymn we sang last Sunday: "Round
the corner of the world I turn,
More and more about the world I learn, All the new things that I see You'll be looking along with me. And it's from the old I travel to the new, Keep me traveling along with you." Thanks so much for all of your prayers ans support. It has been a blessing to hear from family during this change in my life and I can't wait to share more with you! I miss you all so much!!!! In Christ, Kari |
